Is a deal brewing
I've read some reports that the Cub's scouts have spent a lot of time in Kansas City lately. Are the Cubs going to make a play for Beltran? If so, with Sosa likely headed for the DL, right field is the obvious place for him in the short term, but then what do we do with him? Who is the odd man out? Alou? Patterson? Sosa? I love the prospect to getting Beltran, both short term and long term, but I don't like the tought of giving up any of these guys. How about playing four outfielders and three infielders? ;)

Review of the Padres Series
When the Cubs headed out to the West Coast I stated that I would be pleased with a 3-3 road trip. After winning only 1 in LA, I was afraid that 3-3 would be too much to ask. Well, needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Cubs sweep the Padres, especially since they essentially had their 5th, 6th, and 7th starters going. Who could have expected the Cubs to sweep with Maddux, Mitre, and Rusch starting the three games in Petco? Not only did we go on a tear, but Houston has started to slip a bit, allowing us back into a first place tie in the Central.
Now, let's just hope we can bring it home and keep it going. We got SF, which is struggling (I hope they don't figure things out until they leave Wrigley) and St. Louis. The dirty birds are always a good match for us. I would like be happy to go 4-2, especially if at least 2 of those are against the Cardinals.
